It’s the first time the baby has come to Clinica Verde outside of her mother’s belly. Her mother Marisol, 32, lives about 7 kilometers away and has arrived by bus.
Marisol’s first two prenatal controls were conducted at the health center in her small community, then she heard from a friend that “it was better to come to this clinic for prenatal care performed by a gynecologist.” Five pregnancy controls were done at CV, and Marisol was “very grateful for the care received at Clinica Verde.
“Here you are served with quality and in a very special way,” she said. “The staff treats you so attentively and all who work here are professionals. I recommended another friend to come here for her care.
“I told her the attention at Clinica Verde is better for pregnant women. You are seen by a specialist with experience, whereas in the health posts it’s a new nurse.”
Before delivering her baby, Marisol had one last test and it was discovered she had hypertension. CV’s Dr. Varela diagnosed severe pre-eclampsia, and sent her to the hospital immediately. Clinic Verde nurse Jessica Solano accompanied Marisol to the hospital and Dr. Alba Castillo contacted the sub-director of the hospital to inform him about the condition of the patient who was on her way. Said Dr. Castillo, “It’s a very serious complication of pregnancy and she met the criteria for an emergency C-section.”
The baby arrived in the world after this dramatic event, and was born healthy. The mother stayed in the hospital for 3 days.
At 2 months and 1 day, the baby returned to Clinica Verde for her first control for growth and development and received all her newborn vaccinations. She was classified to have normal nutrition and with good motor development. Her next appointment is in two months.
